18 November: Understanding Sustainability in Construction

Understanding Sustainability in Construction

Thursday 18 November
9:30am – 10:30am

As COP26 continues, we are being increasingly bombarded with a plethora of information pouring out of different construction bodies around COP26, alongside a host of terms such as retrofit, circular economy, and sustainability. And this is before we get behind the science of net-zero carbon and how to actually start on the pathway as individuals and companies.

In this Urbano Network event, Penny Gowler, Elliott Wood’s Head of Sustainability, will bring clarity for those of us who are not technical experts, including those who commission construction projects, such as landowners, developers and investors, as well as those who want to bring their own construction-sector companies in line with latest best practice and guidance.

About Penny Gowler

Penny Gowler is a Chartered Structural Engineer. She has a strong interest in sustainable design and is a frequent speaker at events, including the recent RIBA Smart Practice Conference.

Penny is Director and Head of Sustainability at Elliott Wood and is responsible for managing a team of 20 engineers and technicians working across a wide range of projects with typical construction costs of between £10m and £100m.
